Vice Chair Andria Martin, RN, MS, is the past and founding director of the Central Florida Partnership on Health Disparities (CFPHD).  She led the planning and development of the CFPHD in collaboration with multiple community partners. As director, Ms. Martin guided the partnership in setting priorities and strongly emphasized the importance of collaboration in the quest to reduce health disparities. CFPHD successes under Ms. Martin include the development of the Medical Language Bank to help organizations improve services for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP).

Under her direction, several assessments were conducted of cultural and linguistic competence in health care and social service organizations in Orange and Osceola Counties.  Language Bank services were provided to these organizations, including coordination of the translation of vital patient documents and the development of a cadre of trained community interpreters.  The CFPHD also established cultural competence training for health professionals and coordinated health disparities summits, and special presentations and best practices forums.

Andria Martin, a registered nurse and midwife, served as Chief Operating Officer and subsequently as Chief Executive Officer of the John Dempsey Hospital of the University of Connecticut Health Center prior to moving to Florida. She holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Community Health and Health Care Management and a Master’s Degree in Public Health.
