Dr. Lauren Josephs is the Program Manager of Health Disparities Research & Education at the Center for Health Futures at Florida Hospital.  Her core areas of competence include research, evaluation, quality assurance processes, and chronic disease self-management.  In addition, Lauren has expertise in Cultural Competence.  She has received training from the National Multicultural Institute and Network Omni Multilingual Communications and has coordinated summits and given presentations on the topic. In 2008, she received the Golden Choices Award from the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, which recognizes the state's outstanding volunteers in support of Florida's elders.

Lauren received a Bachelors degree in English and Masters and Specialist Degrees in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida and her PhD in Public Affairs from the University of Central Florida, which was an interdisciplinary program in public administration, health services administration, and social work.  She is also a licensed mental health counselor with a track record of advocacy and community outreach.  She has extensive involvement with the public school system, private and not-for-profit organizations, and local and state government agencies. Lauren has a strong interest the relationship between physical and mental health.  She is actively involved with numerous local and state health disparities committees and boards.  She is from the beautiful island of Jamaica.
